A project designed by Japanese architect Yusuke Takahashi represents a fusion of two worlds—Eastern spatial philosophy and Western solidity. This countryside home near Moscow is not just a place to live but a true meditation embodied in architecture. Every detail has been meticulously thought out, with the use of natural materials playing a key role. Among them, solid oak planks take center stage, bringing warmth, authenticity, and timeless elegance to the space.

Inspired by the Japanese tradition of deep respect for nature and its materials, Yusuke Takahashi made the flooring a key element of the interior, carrying not only aesthetic but also philosophical significance.

The master bedroom is designed with solid oak planks “Boulevard Nordic Harmony”. The light wood seems to fill the space with the glow of the morning sun, making it airy and serene. There is nothing excessive here—only silence, tranquility, and the natural texture of wood beneath your feet.
In the children’s room, where safety and sustainability are paramount, the architect chose solid dark ash Nordic. It adds depth and character to the space while maintaining a sense of warmth and softness through the wood’s natural tone.
In the study, the architect selected black oak parquet, emphasizing the room’s restraint and sophistication. The deep, dark tone of the oak adds a sense of nobility, creating an atmosphere of intellectual solitude.

For Yusuke Takahashi, wood is not just a material but a living entity that breathes, resonates, and ages alongside the home. The choice of solid wood flooring in this project is no coincidence—it serves as the foundation that unites all interior elements, allowing energy and light to flow freely throughout the space. In Japanese culture, a natural solid wood floor symbolizes a deep connection between humans, the earth, and nature itself.
The task was a challenging one—to integrate solid wood flooring with an underfloor heating system while avoiding the use of non-eco-friendly materials in the construction. Otherwise, the entire concept of nature and authenticity would have been lost. Thanks to a fruitful collaboration with our project partners, KASUGAI DEVELOPMENT (ideologist), our boutique successfully brought the architect’s vision to life with the highest level of craftsmanship.
The architect designed each space so that the floors became more than just a surface—they are an integral part of the overall composition. The interior remains uncluttered, embodying lightness and harmony. Through floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, natural light floods the home, further enhancing the texture and rich tones of the solid wood.
The result is a home where every step on the solid wood floor feels like a connection to something timeless. A home where Yusuke Takahashi has brought to life the philosophy of Japanese simplicity and deep respect for natural materials. In this project, solid wood planks are not just a finishing element—they form the very foundation of the harmony between the inhabitant, the home, and nature.
